What is NANN? How many members does NANN have?

The National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) has more than 7500 members and is the longest established professional voice that supports neonatal nurses through excellence in practice, education, research and professional development.   NANN is the only non-profit neonatal nursing organization that exists solely to support the professional needs of neonatal nurses throughout their careers.   NANN is your neonatal connection to the strongest and most vibrant community of neonatal nurses. 

Why should I join NANN?

NANN is the professional voice that shapes neonatal nursing through excellence in practice, education, research, and professional development. By joining NANN, you become a part of this vibrant community of neonatal nurses who seek to optimize care for neonates and their families. What is NANNP?

Formed in 2007, the National Association of neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP), a division of NANN, is a unifying voice of neonatal nurse practitioners.  NANNP strives to improve care to neonates, infants and their families by providing a forum for neonatal nurse practitioners’ communication on clinical and professional practice issues, education, advocacy and research.

How do I become a member?

How does NANN membership pay for itself in benefits?

Who is eligible to join NANN?

Membership is open to any registered nurse who wants to support neonatal nursing and NANN. (These members have the right to vote in NANN elections and may work on committees and hold office.)

What are the different categories of membership?

  • NANN Individual Membership -- U.S. or Canada membership is open to any registered nurse who wants to support neonatal nursing and NANN and lives in the United States or Canada.
  • NANN International -- International membership is open to any registered nurse who wants to support neonatal nursing and NANN and lives outside the United States or Canada. (International members have the right to vote in NANN elections and may work on committees and hold office.)
  • NANN Student -- Student membership is open to students who are interested in neonatal nursing and are currently enrolled in an entry-level nursing program that leads to eligibility for the NCLEX examination upon graduation. (Student members have the right to vote in NANN elections and may work on committees, but they may not chair a committee or hold office.)
  • Student Membership -- National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) members can join NANN at a special discounted student rate (verification of NSNA membership status is required). Learn more.
  • Group Membership -- The group membership plan is designed so that your facility can make membership available to every one of your neonatal nurses. Group memberships are available for groups of three or more. The discount is 25% off of the third membership order.
  • NANNPs Membership -- NANN members who are NNPs are eligible to join the National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP), a division of NANN, for an additional $35 annually. (To be eligible for NANNP student membership, individuals must be currently enrolled in a nationally accredited NNP program.)
  • Corporate Membership -- NANN's Corporate Membership Program is available to organizations that support NANN's goals and mission statement: "NANN is the professional voice that shapes neonatal nursing through excellence in practice, education, research, and professional development." This nonvoting membership is extended to a single corporation-designated representative. The program is designed to give special recognition to strong supporters of NANN.

What is the annual cost for NANN/NANNP membership?

Below is a list of memberships and their respective costs:

  • NANN Individual membership: $115 annually
  • NANN International membership: $135 annually.
  • NANN Student membership: $50 annually.
  • NANNP Individual MembershipNANN Membership ($115) + NANNP Membership ($40) = $155
  • NANNP International membershipNANN International Membership ($135) + NANNP International Membership ($35) = $170
  • NANNP Student membershipNANN Membership ($99) + NANNP Student Membership ($15) = $114
  • Corporate Memberships: Annual Corporate memberships dues are $2,50 
  • National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) members can join NANN at a special discounted student rate of $45 (verification of NSNA membership status is required).Learn more
  • Group memberships are available for groups of three or more. The discount is 25% off of the third membership order. (Example: Three individual NANN memberships at the standard rate would be $345, but at the group rate, $317—you save $28.) All money and applications must come together by mail at the same time.

What are some of the different payment options?

We take Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Checks made out to NANN. Fill out our application and then select the type of payment you would like to use.

When will I be asked to renew my NANN membership?

NANN sends out a reminder starting three months in advance that your membership is ending. You can also renew by clicking on the Join or Renew tab at the top of the NANN website. In this section it will also display when your membership expires however if you want to renew before your membership expires you can click the renew button. Renewal for a membership takes up to 24 hours to reflect payment.

How do I cancel my membership?

NANN membership is an annual membership so once they expire and you do not want to renew it is canceled. However, if there is a problem with your membership please call our customer service line at 800-451-9795.

How long before I receive my membership benefits?

Once you have a web login, your membership benefits start right away.

How do I update my information?

Go to your profile and fill out the information that needs to be updated. Make sure when you are finished click the update button to save your new information.

What does Members-Only content mean?

Member- Only content is available only to NANN members.  Members gain access by logging in online by using your web ID and password.

How do I access Members-Only information?

You have to be a member and use your login and password to access Members-Only information.

How do I access Advances in Neonatal Care online?

Advances in Neonatal Care, NANN's official journal, is published 6 times per year. It provides original articles on the latest evidence-based research, controversial issues, diagnoses, therapies, and outcomes of challenging cases—all containing crucial information affecting neonatal care today and tomorrow. The journal also offers user-friendly online retrieval.of articles, with photos, illustrations, and tables that are searchable by author, title, and keyword. Members gain access to journal articles by logging in to the members only section of the NANN web site.

What is MyNANN?

MyNANN is a members-only  online social network where you can interact with other members, join discussion forums, and gain access to member-only directories.

Do members get any benefits for attending the Conference?

Yes, NANN’s annual conference is held in different locations throughout the United States. Members receive discount on registration and other material at the conference.

NANN offers a variety of educational programs and resources to enhance your knowledge and provide you with valuable networking opportunities in neonatal nursing. NANN's goal is to be the primary resource for educating neonatal nurses throughout their career.
