Committee Chair and Member Qualifications, Restrictions, Terms,
Appointment Process, Responsibilities and Benefits of Service

Qualifications
All committee chairs and committee members must be current NANN members. Committee chairs must be registered nurses currently involved in neonatal nursing care through clinical practice, education, research, or consultation.

Restrictions
With the exception of Board officers and special appointments, a member shall not be a chair nor a regular member of more than one national committee at a time.

Terms
All committee chairs and committee members are appointed by the NANN President, and approved by the NANN Board of Directors, for a one-year term, unless noted otherwise, beginning after the annual conference each year. Chairs and committee members may be reappointed two times for a maximum of three (3) years of continuous service.

Appointment Process
NANN members will be solicited for committees via distribution of a Show of Interest Form. This form must be returned to NANN HQ by August 1 each year. The President-Elect will work with current committee chairs/members to determine their willingness to continue for another year. Based on this feedback and committee structure policies, the President-Elect will determine the number of open positions among committee chairs/members and use data from the Show of Interest Form to match volunteers’ interests with open positions. The President-Elect will present the lists of all committees for approval to the Board by October 15 each year so that notification letters will be mailed by November 15 each year for the following year appointments.

Resignation
A chairperson or committee member may resign by written notification to the NANN Board of Directors. The President may choose to replace that person upon approval of the Board.
