• December 15, 2011. Introduced by Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) and co-led by Congressman Peter King (R-NY), The National Nurse Act of 2011aims to amend the Public Health Service Act to establish the position of National Nurse for Public Health.
• September 21, 2011. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius supports adding pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) to the Recommended Newborn Screening Panel in the United States. Letter from Secretary Sebelius.
• September 19, 2011. The National Medical Association (NMA) is the nation's oldest and largest association of African American (AA) physicians and is issuing a "Call to Action" regarding Respiratory Synctial Virus (RSV), an infection is a major cause of respiratory illness in infants and young children. • July 13, 2011: The Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals Exposure Elimination Act of 2011 was introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Jim Moran of Northern Virginia.
• June 18-22, 2011. At the Annual Meeting of the American Medical Association in June, the House of Delegates passed Mississippi Delegates' Resolution  232-Encouraging the AMA to Ask the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to Substantiate Report Findings Regarding Nurse Practitioners.

• Support the Stillbirth and Sudden Unexpected Infact Death (SUID) Prevention, Awarness, and Education Act
• Support the NMA and NBNA in their recommendation that additional research takes place to prevent RSV
