This position is primarily responsible for designing and implementing
educational programs to ensure the quality of the staff's knowledge and
skills, and introducing new techniques/innovation based on advanced
practice trends. May also be relied on to serve as a preceptor to
graduate health care students. Key functions will include providing
consultation to physicians, nurses, and other heath care providers in
meeting the care needs of individual or groups of patients in both
outpatient and inpatient settings. Duties will involve making
recommendations to change standards of care or standards of practice,
along with defining and implementing best nursing practices. Assists in
interviewing the staff, provides input into evaluations regarding
clinical competence, and provides coaching and counseling to the staff.
This position will also be relied on to participate and consult in
setting the direction for Performance Improvement monitoring,
establishing standards, and evaluating outcomes. The clinical nurse
specialist will also be charged with collecting and analyzing data
regarding patient care outcomes and trends.
We are in search of a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
possessing a current California RN license and California clinical
nurse specialist certification in neonatal nursing. Requires a clinical
master's degree in nursing, three years of NICU or perinatal
experience, and clinical expertise in neonatal nursing, along with
current CPR, NRP, and CNS certificates. Prior clinical nurse specialist
experience is preferred.

Western Medical Center Santa Ana, a 282-bed acute care hospital & Level II Trauma Center, located in desirable Orange County, CA, where management support and a close-knit team environment are part of who we are, is currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist-NICU.
Responsible for guiding NICU patient care, the CNS serves as a change agent defining, refining and directing those clinical activities that help improve the quality of patient care. This full time position requires a Masters degree in Nursing , current CA RN license, current CA CNS certification, national certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing , at least 3 years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing care, Current BLS, NRP and Professional membership(s) in your area of practice.
