Ft. Lauderdale
“If you still think of Fort Lauderdale as the raucous destination immortalized in the film Where the Boys Are, think again. With the city’s billion dollar clean up effort that began in the late 1980s and continues today, Fort Lauderdale has successfully transformed itself from a spring break capital into a sophisticated hot spot” (as stated in National Geographic Traveler Magazine).
The new Greater Fort Lauderdale is a vibrant, year-round destination. More than 10 million annual visitors enjoy Greater Fort Lauderdale’s 23 miles of Blue Wave beaches, more than 300 miles of inland waterways that run from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Everglades, 4,000 restaurants, top shopping, and a thriving arts and culture scene. For more information about Greater Fort Lauderdale, visit www.sunny.org.

Preparing for the NANN Conference:

  • Download session handouts - The program handouts and session abstracts will be available to paid registrants from August 2-October 27 in PDF format at www.NANN.org. To access the syllabus online you will need to use the 10 digit order number on your confirmation email for the user name and your last name for the password. Prior to coming to Ft. Lauderdale, registrants may wish to peruse the syllabus online and print handouts for sessions of interest.  Please print early as download times will increase as the meeting draws near. All meeting attendees will receive a complimentary syllabus on CD at the meeting. Printed handouts will NOT be provided onsite (except for preconference sessions), but can be reproduced at the business center for a fee.
  • Hotels and conference centers are notorious for having great variations in temperature from room to room. Plan to dress in layers that can be removed or added depending on the temperature. Wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable.
  • Bring lots of business cards and plan to hand them out liberally.  You will be networking with peers and industry representatives from across the country.
  • Conferences are great resources to gather product samples, promotional items, literature, business cards, and poster session handouts. Before you know it, you will have more things to pack for the way home than your suitcase will hold. In anticipation of this you may wish to follow a few suggestions that have worked for other attendees:
    • Ask vendors to mail product samples to your work address.
    • Pack a flat, expandable extra bag in your suitcase. You can use this to store and transport your extra products. Take that bag straight to your work or home office before unpacking it.
  • Submit your photo to NANN’s Faces of Neonatal Nursing Photo Contest.  The submission deadline is August 1. All submissions will be on display and voted on by conference attendees during the 2008 Ft. Lauderdale meeting.  The submitter of the winning photo will receive a complimentary registration to NANN annual conference in 2009.  For submission and judging criteria, visit www.NANN.org. The NANN conference is non-smoking
  • Infants and children are not allowed in sessions or the exhibit hall
  • Cell phones and pagers must be turned off during educational sessions
  • Attire for the conference is business casual

We look forward to seeing you in Ft. Lauderdale!
