NANN Chapter Accomplishments

Want to know what NANN chapters are up to? Want to get some new ideas for your local chapter? The following list of chapter activities was compiled using each chapter’s 2008 annual report. (If your local chapter is not listed, we did not receive your report in time for it to be included.) NANN chapters are busy, and have an impressive list of accomplishments. Thank you to all chapter officers and volunteers, for all that you do for local chapters and for NANN!

Carolinas Piedmont (CPANN)
Held 6 business meetings and 5 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies and increased awareness of March of Dimes activities through mass e-mails, volunteered at and donated to the Ronald McDonald House, donated Christmas gifts and money to Ebenezer Gardens Christian Children’s Home in North Wilkesboro.

Central California (CCANN)
Increased membership by 120, held a formal local chapter CCANN inauguration, 2 business meetings, and 2 educational events, helped in planning phase of March of Dimes March for Babies, donated to Toys for Tots.

Central Indiana (CIANN)
Increased membership by 11, held 4 educational events, donated $500 to the Special Care Nursery at Columbus Regional Hospital, a hospital that was forced to evacuate and close after severe flooding.

Central Virginia (CVANN)
Increased membership by 14, held 4 business meetings, and 4 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, supported a medical service mission to Jamaica, donated to the Central Virginia Food Bank.

Chicago Area (CAANN)
Increased membership by 13, held 3 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, participated in Christmas Cookie Bake and cooked dinner for Ronald McDonald House, donated to Rush University Medical Center collection of baby shower items given to Woman Care Services, donated to March of Dimes holiday food collection.

Coastal California (CoCANN)
Increased membership by 44, held 4 business meetings and 2 educational events.

Delaware Valley (DVANN)
Increased membership by 1, held 5 educational events, donated personal care items to a treatment facility for pregnant and postpartum women and children, was a March of Dimes March for Babies Checkpoint Sponsor, distributed information on care seat safety, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, donated used cell phones to March of Dimes ReCellular Program, donated to CHOP Homeless Health Initiative, donated to Volunteers of America.

El Paso Area (EPAANN)
Awarded two $500 scholarships to undergraduate nursing students who have been accepted into an accredited nursing program.

Front Range (FRANN)
Increased membership by 28, held 1 educational event.

Gem State (GSANN)
Held 2 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies.

Georgia Carolina (GCANN)
Increased membership by 28, held 5 business meetings, held 3 educational events, donated toiletry bags and snacks to the local Ronald McDonald House, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, donated to Toys for Tots.

Hawaii (HINANN)
Increased membership by 10, held 4 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, participated in the Hawaii Blood Bank Blood Drive, set up Sunday dinners and donated Christmas list items at Ronald McDonald House.

Houston Area (HAANN)
Increased membership by 26, held 5 business meetings, held 6 educational events, donated baby items, school supplies, and toys to women’s and children’s shelters throughout the year.

Inland Counties (ICANN)
Held 6 educational events, was a sponsor of the House of Ruth, adopted a family from House of Ruth for Christmas Giving Tree, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies.

Iowa (IANN)
Increased membership by 6, held 4 business meetings and 2 educational events, donated money and baby supplies to Crisis Center in Iowa City, House of Mercy in Des Moines, Children and Urban Family Ministries Des Moines, and Waypoint Cedar Rapids, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies.

New York (NYCANN)
Increased membership by 5, held 5 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, contributed to NY Cares Coat Drive, donated toys to St. John’s Family Center, sponsored the March of Dimes Annual Conference Workshop.

Northeast Oklahoma (NEOANN)
Held 1 educational event, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies.

Northern Ohio (NOANN)
Held 7 business meetings and 1 educational event, donated basket to University Hospitals.

North Texas (NTANN)
Increased membership by 10, held 6 educational events, donated blankets to the New Beginning Center for battered women and children, donated a fund-raiser auction basket to the New Beginning Center for battered women and children.

Ohio Indiana Kentucky (OIKANN)
Held 4 business meetings and 4 educational events, collected baby items for a women’s shelter.

Pacific Northwest (PNANN)
Held 3 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, collected and packed neonatal medical supplies for Ugandan relief project, donated to NW Harvest food bank.

Palmetto (PANN)
Held 4 educational events, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, donated MRSA isolation screens to local hospital NICU.

Southeastern Carolina (SECANN)
Increased membership by 105, held 2 educational events, donated to March of Dimes, participated in the Cape Fear Valley NICU Reunion.

Southeastern Michigan (SMANN)
Increased membership by 3, held 5 business meetings and 5 educational events, held a garage sale to benefit Camp Michi-Mac (a summer camp for children with asthma), hosted Texas hold’em poker tournaments and donated the proceeds to the Detroit Institute for Children and S*T*A*R*S*, contributed to theme collections for Coalition on Temporary Shelter and Children’s Hospital of Michigan Mobile Health Center, awarded $2,000 scholarships to 2 senior nursing students, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies.

Southeast Florida (SEFANN)
Increased membership by 31, held 6 business meetings and 6 educational events, participated and volunteered in March of Dimes March for Babies, gave NICU tours at area hospitals for the March of Dimes, donated $2,000 to the March of Dimes, held a holiday party to collect unwrapped toys to donate to the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Southern California (SCANN)
Held 6 educational events, supported international relief teams, participated in March of Dimes March for Babies, donated grocery cards for donation to a nonprofit organization.

Susquehanna Valley (SVANN)
Held 4 business meetings and 3 educational events, gave $500 scholarships to 2 area seniors accepted into a nursing school, donated funds and medical equipment and supplies to a Honduran NICU.

Tidewater (TANN)
Held 4 educational events, donated 250 pounds of food to the FOOD Bank of Hampton Roads.

Triangle (TRIANN)
Increased membership by 10, held 3 educational events.

Washington Metropolitan (WMANN)
Increased membership by 9, held 1 educational event.
