About Us
MISSION: The National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP) is the unifying voice of neonatal nurse practitioners. NANNP promotes quality, cost-effective health care by advocating for:
- Clinical and professional practice
- Collaboration
- Health policy
- NNP education
- Research
Founded in 2007, NANNP is a membership division of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN). Our growing membership of neonatal nurse practitioners gives NNPs a distinct voice in addressing career development needs. It also provides representation for neonatal advanced practice issues in the larger nursing community.
NANNP understands that the neonatal nurse practitioner is an essential part of the healthcare system and takes a leadership role in the provision of quality care for neonates, infants, and their families. That's why our vision is to be the leading association addressing issues that impact advanced practice nursing in education, policy, and clinical and professional practice.
NANNP Governance
The NANNP Council is the governing body for the membership division. Because we recognize that APN issues can, and are often, geographically diverse, the council's composition is divided into seven geographic regions. To see a list of our distinguished Council leaders and the regions they represent, please click on the council roster here.
The NANNP Chair serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, creating the necessary continuity between the NNP membership division and NANN; thus ensuring that there is alignment in each grouup's goals and initiatives.
Strategic Planning
The National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and The National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP) are engaged in an aggressive Strategic Planning Initiative positioned to create the association's future strategic direction. The goal of this initiative is to create clarity and focus on how the associations should invest its valuable resources on the identified wants, preferences, and needs of its members and others within the neonatal nursing profession.
NANNP has identified four goal areas for 2008:
- Education.
Be the primary resource for education throughout the nurse practitioner's career.
- Research & Translation.
Advance and translate research for neonatal practice.
- Advocacy.
Impact neonatal nursing practice regulation and policy to improve outcomes.
- Member Engagement.
Recognize the benefits of membership through member engagement.
