E-NANN Supplement to NANN Central
Summer 2005 • Volume 21 Number 3
Focus on NANN Chapters
>NANN Chapters go for a Walk!
The Southeast Florida Association of Neonatal Nurses (SEFANN) fielded a large group for Walk-America and sponsored a rest stop for the walkers; both two legged and four legged!
The Southern California Association of Neonatal Nurses' (SCANN) walk took place in beautiful Balboa Park, San Diego. This was SCANN's 14th year supporting the March of Dimes through WalkAmerica. SCANN walkers this year raised $2385 (the most ever).
Three members of Team AMC-from NANN's management company-smile at the end of their walk for the March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign.
NANN SIGs Are Restructuring
Effective in January 2006, NANN’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will be consolidated into four groups:
Practice
Education
Research
Management
You can expect to see quite a few enhancements to the SIG structure as outlined below.
Facilitators
Practice SIG: To serve members in different roles, the new Practice SIG will have two facilitators: one working in a staff nurse role and the other working in an advanced practice role. In addition to the Practice LISTSERV, there is a new NNP Faculty LISTSERV. (To join any NANN LISTSERV, visit the NANN Members Only section of this Web site.)
Education, Research, and Management SIGs: One member of each SIG will be assigned as the group facilitator.
Facilitators play a vital role in the success of a SIG. They keep LISTSERV conversation strings active, report to the board on SIG activities and goals, and submit articles to the newsletter NANN Central. If you want to step up your leadership role in neonatal nursing and contribute at the national level, consider submitting your name as a candidate for a facilitator position when the call for volunteers goes out in October. Terms will be for one year, beginning January 1.
